A school executive will design structures and processes that result in community engagement, support, and ownership. Acknowledging that schools no longer reflect but in fact build community, the leader proactively creates with staff opportunities for parents, community and business representatives to participate as “stockholders”in the school such that continued investments of resources and good will are not left to chance.

Community Involvement
Last year a former football player of mine passed away doing what he loved most, helping people. In his honor, his mother and our South Johnston family created a 5K fundraiser to build a new playground set at Four Oaks Elementary School. Brock was such an inspiration to others and a pure joy to be around. He was the athlete that you loved to coach. He was hardworking, determined, the type of player that never gave up. Brock wanted to play football so badly that as long as he was on the field he did not care what position he played. Everything Brock did, he did it with a smile on his face. He loved fishing, hunting, hanging out with friends but most importantly he loved helping people. Due to the COVID-19 the 5K has been postponed but we are still raising money and taking donations to support Brock and family. |

Community Asset Map
For my Human Resource class we had to perform a detailed examination of the schools community. I created a asset map highlighting Pinetops NC and the resourced they contribute to SouthWest Edgecombe. The map highlights local economy, faith based options, publics spaces, schools, and restaurant options. |

The school executive designs executive protocols and processes in order to comply with federal, state and district mandates.
Fire and Lockdown Drill
During my internship, I managed and developed the school's Crisis Response Plan and Kit. Each plan is designed in response to disasters such as fire, tornado, school lockdown, or any major bus incident. In the event, any of the disasters arise I created and developed systems to ensure that our school has access to bloodborne pathogen kits, safety cards, class rosters, as well as copies of each student’s bus information.
